The opening of our Indoor Tennis Centre by HRH The Duchess of Gloucester.
The Centre managed by Gloucester City Council was launched in January but officially opened by HRH The Duchess of Gloucester in March 2001.
The centre operates on a pay and play basis, ie no compulsory membership, just the opportunity to pay by the hour for the court time used. The centre boasts excellent opportunities for players of all levels and all ages. Varied coaching and recreational sessions are available for juniors, adults and the young at heart, including, mini tennis, matchplay, ladies only sessions and group and individual tuition.
The local LTA team is delighted to be based within the centre and for the first time Gloucestershire LTA has a permanent home, not least for our junior squads who can now be coached whatever the weather.
Gloucestershire City Council, Gloucestershire County Council, Sport England Lottery, The Lawn Tennis Association and Gloucestershire Lawn Tennis Association were all partners in this LTA Indoor Tennis Initiative project.
